Who We Are

 Hi. I'm Alex.

I've been a vet now for nearly 12 long years!

I grew up in Warwickshire, but moved to Newport when I qualified from uni, where I live with my amazing wife and resident 2 and 3 years olds who keep me on my toes!

In the vet world, I enjoy most aspects of the job, but surgery reserves a special

*place in my heart, alongside having a real passion for good service.

In my free time, I love tinkering with my old VW Beetle, riding my motorbike, and seeing the world with my family.

I can't wait to show you Horizon.

 Hi. I'm Greg.

I started out in the vet world as veterinary receptionist aged 13 many moons ago. I have now been qualified as a vet for 30 years. I've seen a lot of change, some good and some less so. I think Alex's vision for Horizon is aiming for the good stuff and so I am very excited to join the team. I love a medical conundrum and although they were barely seen when I started out, I have to have an ultrasound machine humming nearby me nowadays. 

I settled with my family in South Wales in 2001 and have been working here ever since. I have 3 grown up kids, 1 elderly cat, 1 elderly labrador and 1 elderly Border Terrier ! Love a run, a game of badminton and a bike ride. Love a dog and a cat and look forward to meeting yours very soon ! I'll be gentle...

Hi, I'm Emma. I graduated from Bristol Vet School in 2009. For 15 years I ran a busy one vet practice in Bristol. I am passionate about preventative healthcare and love nothing more than forming close bonds with people and their pets. I enjoy most aspects of being a GP vet and will never get bored of lancing a juicy abscess or retrieving grass seeds from places they shouldn't be. 

In my spare time I love horse riding and going on adventures with my family in our campervan. I look forward to meeting you soon.

 Hi, I am Rhiannon. 

I have been a qualified nurse for 15 years, spending 10 of these as head nurse in a general small animal veterinary clinic, that also specialised in orthopeadic and spinal referrals. My passion lies in mentoring and supporting my team, inpatient care, and I have a soft spot for making sure your golden oldies get to enjoy their later years in life as best they possibly can.

Outside of work, you can find me riding and caring for my horse, Delmi, and enjoying time with my family in the great outdoors.

 Hi there my name is Anna. 

I’m a registered vet nurse and have been in practice since 2005. I’m super excited to get back in to looking after your pets at Horizon! . I have a special interest in rehabilitation but love all aspects of my job.

When I’m not in work I’m busy looking after my family and my two house hippos (Frenchie’s) we love going on adventures and anything Italian.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and booping some snoots!

 Hi, I'm Laura and I am the Horizon Vets Reception and Finance Lead. Having worked in this area for 18 years, I cannot wait to get back in to a career I love, in an independent practice.

My passion is all things client based. I enjoy chatting with clients and supporting them through their pets’ treatment journey, aiming to provide the best service I can. My main speciality is insurance, whether thats completing claims or assisting clients with policies. 

You will often find me on reception floor making a fuss of the doggos and giving them plenty of fuss to help them feel at ease in the practice. I have been known to be a bit of a feeder and give them plenty of biscuits too!

 Hi, I’m Elena, 

I’ve been a registered veterinary nurse for nearly 5 years, graduating from Hartpury University in 2020. I am local to the area and have grown up here in Newport. I have a keen interest in nurse clinics, along with medical nursing. Caring for a hospitalised patient and seeing them recover is always very rewarding. I believe continuity of care is very important and strive to achieve this at all times. 

In my spare time I like beach walks with my little dog Barley. Hunting for the best coffee shop and socialising with friends and family. 

 Hi I'm Carys!

I achieved my BSc in Veterinary Nursing in 2022, and although I am not from Newport, so far my nursing career has been predominantly based in the area. 

I love nursing, but my favourite skill is anaesthetic monitoring, alongside making sure that patients are as pain free as possible. 

I also have a keen interest in nutrition and weight management, to help improve patient quality of life and longevity.

I really enjoy learning new aspects of nursing, so I spend some of my weekends at VetsNow, as I love emergency work. 

Outside of work I spend my time looking after my own little zoo of animals complete with my Spaniel, Horse, Guinea pigs, Rabbits and Tortoise. Some might say I have an animal addiction! Animals bring so much joy, which is what I tell my partner when I keep bringing more home.

I am really excited for my new adventure with Horizon and I can't wait to meet all of our new clients and patients!

 Hi everyone, I am really looking forward to meeting you all and your furry companions!

I qualified as a vet nurse in 2017, and have also undertaken a further qualification in Emergency and critical care nursing.

I started my career in a small referral practice where I predominantly was involved in all things surgical; I have since been working in a large referral hospital as part of the ICU unit  which has taught me so much. I am excited to get back into general practice to utilise all I have learnt through my years as a nurse and provide the best care I can for you all! You can rest assured when you entrust them with us there will be plentiful treats and head scratches! 

Outside of work you will find me running around after my two young boys (and husband) alongside caring for our two dogs Rosie and Paddy plus our cat Apricot.

  Hi, I’m Izzy!


I’ve been a qualified veterinary nurse for five years and have spent that time exploring different areas of nursing to discover what I love most. While I have a deep passion for both surgical and medical nursing, I’ve come to realise how meaningful it is to provide gentle, compassionate care — especially during the final stages of a pet’s life. I truly value being part of a team that supports animals and their families through every step of treatment and recovery.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me baking something sweet, getting lost in a good book, or exploring new countries. I can’t wait to meet you and your fur babies!

  Hi, I'm Phillipa.

I'm so excited to join the team and bring with me over 30 years of customer service experience. Finally I get to do what I love, working with animals and meeting new people. I do have an interesting past time, when I am not in work, you will probably find me with my Alpacas, of which I own 11!  Always happy to talk Alpaca, just ask!  Outside of work otherwise, you'll usually find me baking something sweet, getting lost in a good book, or exploring new countries. I can't wait to meet you and your fur babies!
